The teenage years or the tween years are very important for any child, as this is the age when they learn to become decision-makers. We must understand that we are presented with choices every day, but the wisdom to choose correctly sets in from the tween years. As the kids mature over the years, so do the options open to them. They go past the stage when they need to choose between the different flavors of ice-creams; they now decide on the type of friends they want to have, which courses to take, and a lot of other good choices. The process of decision making is very crucial as the decisions taken by the children will dictate the path that their career or life will take. They need to judge the risks and rewards of the choices that they make in the short and long term. Talking to Tweens about Good Choices has never been more important than now! Sojourner Truth Study Guide
I LOVE strong women who make their everlasting mark on history! This month I want to talk about a hero of not only women but African Americans as it is Black History Month. Sojourner Truth was an incredible person and the focus of a workbook I have for you this month! This Sojourner Truth Study Guide shares a lot of great information about this African American evangelist - who was also an abolitionist, women's rights activist and author. She lived a horrible life as a slave and did what she could to bring about change. Change that was sorely needed. Having been sold 3 times before she turned 13? That strikes home with me now that I am 13 - I can't even imagine what she went through - with one of her "masters" being exceptionally cruel. That is just a little about the biography of her - but there is more inside my Sojourner Truth Study Guide. You will also find her most famous quotes, some fun puzzles to learn more, and all in all? This should make for a great lesson plan … [Read more...]
