I LOVE strong women who make their everlasting mark on history! This month I want to talk about a hero of not only women but African Americans as it is Black History Month. Sojourner Truth was an incredible person and the focus of a workbook I have for you this month!
This Sojourner Truth Study Guide shares a lot of great information about this African American evangelist – who was also an abolitionist, women’s rights activist and author. She lived a horrible life as a slave and did what she could to bring about change. Change that was sorely needed.
Having been sold 3 times before she turned 13? That strikes home with me now that I am 13 – I can’t even imagine what she went through – with one of her “masters” being exceptionally cruel. That is just a little about the biography of her – but there is more inside my Sojourner Truth Study Guide.
You will also find her most famous quotes, some fun puzzles to learn more and all in all? This should make for a great lesson plan if you are a homeschooler! This incredible paragon of civil rights should be studied by every kid – to help foster understanding of others! I think this country could use a little more understanding of people who are different than themselves.
That is coming from a kid who sees a lot of adults so far on the left and so far on the right that they can’t reach across the wide cavern between them to even shake hands. (sigh)
