Talking to Tweens About Makeup Featured Image

Talking to Tweens about makeup? If your young daughter cannot check herself from observing the makeup aisle at the neighborhood drug store or the superstore then it is probably time to consider how you will talk to your tween daughter about the issue of makeup. But there are many things to consider and discuss before you allow your kid daughter to get introduced to the world of cosmetics. Talking to Tweens about Makeup Makeup and Tween Girls Most of the parents do not want their tween daughters to wear any makeup because they are afraid that their daughters will look much older and mature than they actually are and will unnecessarily attract attention that they might not be able to handle later on. Note Taking Methods for Creative Learners

Note Taking Methods for Creative Learners Featured Image

Gone are the days of Cornell, two-column notes. Note taking is no longer just a sequential presentation of a summary of information. These note taking methods for creative learners give new, innovative ways to present information. Note Taking Methods for Creative Learners Sketch-noting A popular method of note-taking, sketch-noting, involves using images and words to illustrate learning. Sketch-noting can start simply with doodles or elementary sketches depicting ideas from lectures or readings, or it can get more complicated when students actually study how to take creative sketch-notes by practicing drawing certain icons or images. Some sketch-noters prefer to take their note-taking to a digital format using apps on iOS, such as ProCreate for iOS and Android-friendly apps like Adobe Sketch. Whether in electronic form or using a notebook, sketch-noting engages both sides of the brain to help learners remember content. Webbing Mind mapping or webbing is another way … [Read more...]

What I Did on My Summer Vacation

What I Did on My Summer Vacation Featured Image

Today is the first day of Junior High for me, and I am now officially an 8th-grade college student. One of the assignments every English teacher loves to give at the beginning of the year is an essay of "What I Did on My Summer Vacation". I thought I would jump the gun on it this year and share it with you as I had a busy, but fantastic summer! It started with my week on the University of Iowa campus for the Junior Scholar Institute. I did a writing workshop this year (Last year was Japan) and upped my skills while living in the dorm and connecting with other amazing young adults from across this country. We tried a few new restaurants this time, so we hit historic places like the Hamburg Inn #2. After that was my musical theater workshop - which didn't go so well. It cemented my desire to quit dance and move on to something else. (read about it here) The summer heat had really started to kick in by this time, and I cringed when I heard we were going camping for the weekend. … [Read more...]

Getting Your Child Ready for Kindergarten Featured Image

Unfortunately, many parents stress over getting their kids prepared for kindergarten. The good news is that it doesn't have to happen to you. Keep reading, to learn more about how to accomplish the task so that it goes smoothly for everyone. We have some great tips for Getting Your Child Ready for Kindergarten. Getting Your Child Ready for Kindergarten Positive Interactions When your child starts kindergarten, he's going to be around lots of kids every day. It’s important to talk with him about getting along with his classmates, especially if he's an only child. Talk to him about his own feelings and make sure he understands that all of his new classmates have feelings, too. Motor Skills These days, many kids use apps to learn letters, shapes and colors. While these apps are excellent learning tools, they don’t help to develop your child's fine motor skills in the same way traditional activity books do. Find a few coloring or activity books for your child, to go … [Read more...]

Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu, commonly known as Mother Teresa and honored in the Roman Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, was born on August 26th, 1910. This selfless and incredible 5' tall woman graced our world for 87 years. My Free Mother Teresa Unit Study Workbook can teach you more about her and the legacy she left us. What is In my Free Mother Teresa Unit Study Workbook? Well, I aim to show you how one person can make a huge impact on the world. We actually just covered this concept in Girl Scouts over the last year - the power of one. One person, one act, one idea. Mother Teresa knew her "calling" when she was just 12 and six years later, she was able to take steps to make it a reality. Her life was dedicated to those who needed help the most, and to unconditional love. She worked with the hungry, homeless, sick, and poor. Canonized by the church and also a Nobel Prize winner?
