UP Movie Study

I wasn't so sure I was going to like the movie UP until I gave it a chance. I normally like "happy" movies and this seemed like it was going to be a downer with a widowed man getting kicked out of his home. The joke was on me - the movie had SO much more to it and I was in heaven! I put together this movie study free pack so you could watch it as a family and create a lesson out of it - about adventure, travel and life in general. Up is a 2009 American 3D computer-animated comedy-drama buddy adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film centers on an elderly widower named Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner) and an earnest boy named Russell (Jordan Nagai). Retired balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, an overeager 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer Russell is on … [Read more...]

National Treasure Movie Study

I can't begin to tell you how many times I have heard my mother day "Everything can be a learning experience." Seriously, she means it, LOL! That is why I came up with this simple lesson for watching a Disney movie - it is my National Treasure Movie Study! National Treasure Movie Study Yes, I have a little thing for Nicholas Cage - and adore his quirky personality in his Ben Gates personality. If you aren't familiar with the movie Benjamin Franklin Gates descends from a family of treasure-seekers who've all hunted for the same thing: a war chest hidden by the Founding Fathers after the Revolutionary War. Ben's close to discovering its whereabouts, as is his competition, but the FBI is also hip to the hunt. (according to IMDB). This movie is full of history facts, figures, and great conspiracy theories as it pulls you through the series of twists and turns as the story unfolds. That is what makes it so fun to watch and follow along! Watch it as a family and make sure you … [Read more...]

Money Saving Tips For College Students

by Sarah

One of the first things I hear people say is : You are a 9-year-old college student?! Lucky parents! I bet that means the school district has to cough up tuition! Um, no. Just no. I do have a college fund that we can't touch for 6 more years...and it is almost impossible to get a scholarship when you have no high school transcripts! Soooo...that means we get to pay. We want to share our Money Saving Tips For College Students.     It's a good thing I make money modeling.   I think we all go through that lovely time in our life when we are totally broke college student. You have to focus on school so you can't work full time as well, and the little money you do make goes towards purchasing books and everything else needed for school. A lot of time you are barely able to buy yourself a decent meal and put gas in your car … [Read more...]
