Going to the zoo might be one of my most favorite things! I know a bunch of my friends hit the Madison Henry Vilas Zoo over the Mother’s Day weekend and am now itching to visit myself. This is a fun FREE printable that kind of makes a game out of your visit — a zoo scavenger hunt!
We have talked before about 6 Animals to Study In Kids Science Homeschool Class and also Nine Ways a Parent Can Encourage an Interest in Science and a simple trip to the zoo can fit right in! Many zoos are free but if you aren’t lucky enough to have a free zoo close to you? It is worth asking for a family membership as a holiday gift! If you don’t get gifted with one, you might want to invest yourself just two visits ane you have more than paid for the membership.
There is awalys something new an fun a zoo! New animals are born. Naturalist demonstrations are given. Animals are seen eating, interacting, and even sleeping. It is a great way for littles to learn about animals instead of seeing pictures in a book or browsing on their school Chromebook. Let’s face it – how big do you think an elephant is if you haven’t seen one? Big could mean car sized or house sized! Seeing one of those beautiful gentle giants in person is totally worth the trip.
My Mom always says that everything can be a learning experience AND fun so I hope this helps you do both at your next trip to the zoo with the littles.
