50 Ideas of Summer Fun For Kids

by Dannelle

Summer is approaching and for those of us with kiddos, with them being out of school in the Summer time, we need things to help entertain them! Kids get bored easy, so constantly doing things in the Summer time can get very expensive. It’s always really nice when you can come up with things to do that are very cheap or even free to do. These things are nice if you have multiple children or maybe you’re going to be babysitting this Summer! Great to do and to have a lot of fun along with bonding with the kiddos! Here are 50 ideas of Summer Fun For Kids.

Summer Fun For Kids:

  1. Go for a hike: This is more for older children, but it’s always nice to go on a hike because it’s like an adventure and you can see so much scenery!
  2. Make a scrapbook: You can make a scrapbook from older photos, or you can even start one in the beginning of Summer and add things throughout the Summer so you have one for this summer to remember!
  3. Catch Fireflies: I loved doing this as a kid, I would clean out an old pickle jar or some kind of jar like that and run around outside trying to catch as many fireflies as I could!
  4. Go to the playground: Most playgrounds are free! It’s nice for the kids to be able to have and it also gets them outside and exercising without them even knowing it!
  5. Pick Flowers:– These are always fun! You can pick these flowers and give them to a mom or grandma as a present!
  6. Water Gun Fights: These are great for the Summer because it’s a fun way to cool yourselves down on a hot Summer day!
  7. Have a slumber party: Let the kids invite over a few friends and just have fun! Watch movies, eat junk food, and have fun!
  8. Build a blanket fort: A classic! I loved doing this as a child! It was so fun and so much fun to sleep in at the end of the night!
  9. Go on a Scavenger hunt: These are good in order to occupy a certain amount of time with kids! It helps them learn competition if you grant the winner a prize in the end!
  10. Start a Lemonade Stand: These are great, you get to bond and you can take them to the store afterwards and let them pick something out with the money they have earned that day!
  11. Make S’mores: Who doesn’t love s’mores and they are very delicious at the end of a long day roasting them over the fire as a family!
  12. Go on a picnic: Picnics are a great way to spend time together as a family! They are fun and you can bond by preparing all the food for it!
  13. Have a movie night: They are fun because you can all choose one movie and then watch them all in one night! It’s a blast when everyone has their own input!
  14. Make Ice Cream: Ice Cream is a great treat for a hot day but instead of just going to get ice cream, you can look up a simple recipe online and make it yourselves!
  15. Put on a magic show: You can teach them a few magic tricks, invite the other kids in the neighborhood and put on an entertaining magic show!
  16. Start a Garden: Kids love to do things like this! They are always interested when you tell them that they can eat something they’ve made themselves in the end! Check out my Mom’s Garden Site
  17. Throw a ball: Throwing a ball is great for if they’re too young to get into sports yet, it gets their motor skills going so when they are read for sports they know what they’re doing!
  18. Go Cloud Watching: You never know what you’ll see in the clouds! It’s so fun to lay in a field and look up and see what you can make of the clouds!

  20. Go fishing: You may have to help them out a bit, but when they catch their very own fish they are always so surprised and love it!
