Summer Planning – CAMP!

by Sarah

My Mom is awesome — she finds so many cool things for me to do and is very creative about it! This summer shapes up to be incredible –she has outdone herself. It’s time to talk about Summer Planning – CAMP!

We planned on being fairly low key as we were bringing back (and paying to do so) the girl who we had two years ago from the Ukraine in the Circle of Love project through our church. Diana is 2 years older than me and just like a big sister!

SO….the rest of the summer plans were a total surprise until we reviewed the family calendar:

Final Exams are over for me on May 18th…but I am going to still be in elementary school for 3 more weeks…if my Mom’s trip to Cuba works out, then I only have 2 weeks of school because I would get to skip one for traveling!

The week after school is out, we have Camp Invention. My Mom is the camp parent and working NOW so I can attend FREE! (More on Camp Invention HERE!)

The day after camp ends, it is my birthday AND Diana arrives in our country! SUPER happy day!

The next week we leave for a family mission trip — all of us are going to northern Michigan with a bunch of families from our church and will do random service projects that the adults have lined up. It will also be about fellowship, fun and food!

The week after that, while Diana is in English classes and being shuttled to doctor appointments, I get to go to Cooking Camp through Sur La Table. I have no idea what my mom did to make that happen but I can’t wait to slice and dice!

Independence Day brings a week that is totally unscheduled! I expect to see a parade or two, fireworks and some quality grandparent time though…

Aquapooloza at Bethel Horizons for a week should be a (wet) blast with Diana. We are both going while mom has to hit New York City for a business trip.

The next week I am using some of my “badgerland bucks” from Girl Scout Cookie Selling to attend Camp Hero! It is an immersion of fun with real life Heros: female police, firefighters and paramedics.

That takes us to Diana’s last week and our annual cabin trip with my grandpa.

After Diana goes back to the Ukraine (sniff) I have Vacation Bible Camp! My mom usually stays and helps with camp crafts for the week.

Family New York Trip! We take Amtrak sleeper cars to the heart of the city on a round trip and play for a few days seeing things like Twin Tower Memorial, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Natural History Museum and more. Mom does travel writing and scored some fun things for exchange of reviews. (I LOVE her job!!)

That still leaves me a few weeks of NOTHING on the calendar so I can simply chill, play with friends and prep for fall courses….I am SO EXCITED about my adventure this summer!

Cuba – Science Camp – My “sister” – Mission Trip – Cooking Camp – Fireworks – Water Camp – Camp Hero – Cabin – VBC – New York – – – my head is spinning!

I told  you, my Mom is awesome!
