Chapter Books Series to Read Aloud to your Daughter

Judy Moody

Megan McDonald, the author of the Judy Moody series, did a wonderful job creating a character that young girls can relate to. Each of the Judy Moody books features a different adventure or mystery that Judy needs figure out.

This includes real life adventures such as developing math skills with a tutor or trying to find a missing pet. Your daughter will love listening to you read about Judy’s adventures and eventually, she’ll love reading these stories on her own.

The Rainbow Fairies

Your daughter will love stepping into this colorful book series. Each book in this series features a different color fairy, from Ruby the Red Fairy to Heather the Violet Fairy. In each story, the main characters, Rachel and Kirsty, must find the fairy and bring them back to Fairyland. After reading the series to your daughter, you can extend the fun online with many different games and activities that go along with the fairies.

Junie B. Jones

Junie B. Jones has to be one of the most loveable characters for young girls. This personable character will make your little girl laugh as Junie bungles through her many adventures. Barbara Park, the author of this wonderful series, does a great job of writing about real life dilemmas that girls can face as they grow up.

One of the great things about this chapter book series is that you don’t need to read them in any particular order. You can select any book that sparks your daughter’s interest or that she can relate to at the time.

Ramona

Beverly Clearly definitely wrote a book series that is a timeless favorite for many girls. Ramona is the little sister of character introduced in a different series by the same author. After the last book in that series, Ramona became a main character in her own series. Each book shares a real life problem that Ramona needs to face, oftentimes a problem that many girls can relate to.

Reading aloud to your daughter is a great way to teach her about reading. It is also a great time to spend together, allowing you to bond over favorite characters. What chapter books do you like reading aloud to your daughter?
