Do you want to build a snowman?

In Wisconsin, we have winter up to eight months of the year, but not every month is created equal! We have different temperatures and kinds of snow each month.

Occasionally we will see snow that is super dry and fine – no matter what you do, you cannot create a snowball of any kind. You certainly can’t make a snowman!

Print off this activity set and you will see that dressing your snowman is just one of the 12 pages of activities included in this set!

We have snow days from school because it is too cold outside

Mainly, this considers the rural segment of kids that have to wait at the end of their driveways for the school bus to pick them up. When the weather dips below zero, and the wind chill factors are added in? It is a very short window of time before frostbite hits.

Some can’t even imagine living in a climate that is so harsh! My mom actually jokes about living in a place where the air hurts her face.

This Free Winter Activity Set For Kids Printable Unit is a great thing to have printed off, in that “busy box” with colored pencils and markers for days when school is suddenly called off and you need something to do.

The 12 pages of fun include a word search, coloring, tracing skills, winter vocabulary work, color by number, patterns, sorting, and more!

Skating on thin ice

My mom tells the story about being my age and literally falling through the ice when skating at a local park with her friend. She refers to it as one of her lesser “finest moments” – and after the initial panic, realized that the water she was sitting in was only two feet deep or so.

It was a long, cold walk back home to get into warm and dry clothing – after a hot shower that seemed to last an hour.

Yup – we have a picture of an ice skater in this activity set for coloring in. I would suggest pulling it out while watching the figure skaters competing in the Olympics! Your young artist can decorate the skating costume to match their fan-favorite of all who are competing.

Not a Trace

So many parents don’t get why “tracing activities” are so important for their preschoolers. But so many children love to trace! Tracing helps develop their fine motor skills and they are learning while they are having fun. We have included a set of two tracing sheets where they follow the patterns on winter mittens that you can print off multiple times.

I Spy

You can also help with their Winter vocabulary by printing off the Winter Word Search or Winter Vocabulary sheets and then taking them outside to look for similar things in your own Winter wonderland!

The bottom line?

Get engaged and creative with your little learners! This Winter Activity Set For Kids Winter Printable is an awesome way to keep the kids busy on those cold and snowy days! Just print off these 12 pages and add some colored pencils. You’ll be ready for a snow day or other winter fun! Plus, it’s all free to download!
