You know me, I’m a firm believer that children learn to play. So, is our job as parents, to make sure they have great things to play with! Miss Sarah has a very strong science aptitude, and I’ve had a lot of fun finding new things that work with STEM, but it’s always great to shake things up a bit.
When Hasbro sent me a list of a few fun things to review, this one just jumped out right at the start. In fact, the lady that I work with through Hasbro, said she knew that would get my attention. (Love Her!!)
The Scrabble Twist is such an easy easy easy easy game to play! ( did I mention that it was easy? )
You can play with someone else, you can play by yourself, but here’s my favorite thing: it’s easy to drop in a purse or glove box!
Have you ever sat next to that table at a restaurant with the parents do nothing for their children? The kids are bored, start to become disruptive, and the parents don’t even stop them from getting out of the booth and walking around? Even better, they start to have a temper tantrum because they are hungry, tired, and it’s taking a little while for the food to make it to the table.
I always have loved having something like this to entertain and distract Miss Sarah during that wait time. Let’s face it, how many times can kids color the same darn place mat before they’re bored with it?
Now the first thing you might want to do is change the volume, lol. After I dropped a couple of batteries in it and turned it on, it seemed like it was set for somebody with a hearing problem… but my ears have always been a little sharper than other people in my family.
We love the “solo” setting… where you play against the clock. You get 5 random letters given to you, and have to make as many words as you can out of them before the timer goes off. All words have to be at least three letters, and the bigger the word, the more points you earn. I was proud of my 42 score until the Munchkin whipped out a 58. (sigh)
You will see this gem on our holiday guide this year as this is a perfect stocking stuffer! I see it during car rides, at the dinner table of a restaurant, waiting for doctors appointments, and so much more. The Scrabble Twist might even be a fun gift to give an elementary school teacher for her classroom.
Anything that helps making learning fun is a winner in my book! It’s easy to see why so many like to #PlayLikeHasbro!
