disclosure: we received a set of Kuhn Rikon KinderKitchen Essentials for review, all thoughts are entirely our own. I love cooking with my daughter. There’s something so fun and satisfying about spending time together in the kitchen and preparing a meal. More than that, there are so many benefits to teaching your kids to cook. Not only does it set them up to have healthy eating habits for life, cooking is the perfect STEAM learning activity combining science, math and creativity. I have found that when my daughter cooks with me she is much more adventurous about trying new foods and is much more willing to eat a meal that she made.
I jumped at the chance to review Kuhn Rikon’s Kinderkitchen Essentials Knife Set. Kuhn Rikon is a family owned Swiss company that has been in business for over 80 years, which certainly speaks to the quality and utility of their products. The Kinderkitchen Essentials set is no exception and did not let me down.
First of all, this set is absolutely adorable. It comes with two knives shaped like dogs – smooth and serrated, and a kitchen shears shaped like a duck. The dog shaped knives are made from Japanese carbon steel with an edge that is sharp enough to cut foods but with rounded tips to be kid safe. These cleverly designed knives even use the dog’s ears as hand guards. Similarly the duck snippers are made from carbon steel and are able to cut herbs and veggies but are designed to be used by little hands. I love that the duck’s bill doubles as a blade cover. So cute! Best of all –these items are dishwasher safe!
My daughter gave these knives a test run on a salad for dinner and gave them her approval. She really enjoyed being able to make a big contribution to our dinner. And, she absolutely LOVED having tools that were all her own.
I would gladly recommend the Kuhn Rikon Kinderkitchen Essentials knife set to any parent who enjoys bringing their children into the kitchen. This quality product is the perfect blend of the creative and the practical and is sure to be a big hit with your little chefs!
